I’ve always believed that the best stories are written with love—and sometimes, a little fur.
I’m Laura, the founder of Mutty Prints, and my story begins with two things: a deep love for dogs and a lifelong passion for design. I never expected those two worlds to collide in such a meaningful way, but when they did, something magical happened. Mutty Prints was born—a brand where art, fashion, and dog love come together to create joyful, personal pieces for pet parents like me.
The heart (and paw) behind it all? Max—my scruffy, sweet rescue pup and forever muse.
I adopted Max during a season of life that needed light. He brought warmth into my world in the most unexpected ways. From the way Dog Mom Streetwear he flopped dramatically on the couch to how he looked at me like I was his whole world, Max reminded me every day what unconditional love really looked like. He was more than a dog—he was my best friend, sidekick, and eventually, my brand partner in crime.
At the time, I was working as a freelance graphic designer, helping other businesses bring their ideas to life. But late at night, after work and walks, I’d unwind by sketching Max—his floppy ears, expressive eyes, and all the goofy poses he’d strike throughout the day. One night, I posted one of those illustrations on Instagram. What followed was unexpected: friends and followers began asking if I could draw their dogs too.
What started as a few fun requests turned into a flood of messages—stories of rescue dogs, puppy milestones, pets who had crossed the rainbow bridge, and lifelong companions people wanted to remember forever. I was touched, overwhelmed, and completely inspired. I realized I wasn’t just creating art—I was capturing love.
That’s when the idea clicked: why not combine my design skills and dog obsession into something real? Something that could celebrate pets in a fun, fashionable, and deeply personal way?
So in 2020, Mutty Prints officially launched. The name? A nod to Max’s “mutty” charm and his uncanny ability to track paw prints through every room of the house. It was playful, personal, and perfectly imperfect—just like him.
My first offerings were custom pet portraits, each one hand-illustrated and crafted with the same attention to detail I gave to Max’s sketch. But soon, the vision grew. I started turning those portraits into products—tote bags, stickers, mugs, and apparel that dog lovers could carry, wear, and gift with pride. I wanted Mutty Prints to be more than just artwork—it had to be a lifestyle brand that honored the love we all have for our four-legged family members.
And as the collection grew, so did the community. I found myself connecting with dog parents from all over the world—each with a story, each with a pet who meant everything. Whether it was a puppy’s first portrait or a memorial to a beloved companion, every piece I created felt like a shared celebration.
But Mutty Prints isn’t just about cute designs (though there are plenty of those!). It’s also about purpose. A portion of every sale goes toward supporting rescue organizations and animal shelters—because every dog deserves a second chance, just like Max had.
Today, Max still lounges beside me as I draw, and I still read every story that comes in with each order. This brand may have started as a personal project, but it’s become something so much bigger—a place where passion meets pup fashion, and where love for dogs takes center stage.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Because if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that life is better with dogs—and even better when you can wear your heart on your sleeve (or your tote bag).
